In the project, the development of future scenarios for the airport business was implemented and an impact assessment for a digitization and innovation strategy was carried out. In expert interviews, we transported ourselves to the year 2035 with executives from airport management, the airline industry, the logistics industry and the railway industry in order to discuss the central strategic uncertainties from the perspective of Fraport AG. From these expert interviews and from Fraport AG’s trend management, we developed alternative future projections. In individual workshops, two critical areas of tension were identified in order to obtain four alternative scenarios in a matrix and to assign alternative future projections. These scenarios were expanded in a validation workshop with experts based on their plausibility and in a consistency analysis. Narrative short stories were developed by means of storytelling. Finally, an impact assessment was carried out for a future strategic realignment and for direct conclusions for the digitization and innovation strategy today.
